Excerpt - The Times They Are A Changin

(Lee rides an escalator from the subway to the street level. Waiting for him reading, you guessed it, her map book, is Amanda. He startles her.)

Lee: Well, how’d your little meeting with Haddy go?

Amanda: Oh it was very sad.

Lee: Sad, why?

Amanda: Did you know he has a little boy he’s never seen and that the little boy’s mother was killed in an automobile accident? It’s one of the reasons he wants to go home.

Lee: I’d say that’s a damn good reason.

Amanda: Yeah.

(Lee puts his arm around Amanda as they walk down the street.)

Lee: Well, did he tell you anything else?

Amanda: Well we’ve gotta get him outta Munich. He’s in a lot of trouble.

Lee: (Chuckles.) Yeah, I know that. Now look, we’re supposed to meet Billy and Francine, then you can belief us all at once.

Amanda: Check. Now listen Lee.

Lee: What?

Amanda: I’m very sorry about the beer that I spilled on you last night.

Lee: Aw don’t…

Amanda: I don’t think it will stain, but if it does, you know some people say that you can use beer to get a stain out? I don’t know if it’s an old wives tale…

Lee: Amanda, please wait. It’s not important.

Amanda: Right.

Lee: Now meet me at the Arkaden in two hours.

Amanda: The what?

Lee: Number 22 in your9+ map book.

Amanda: Number 22. Number 22 in two hours. Easy to remember, number 22 in two hours.

(Amanda looks for number 22 in her book as Lee leaves.)
