Cast

Kate Jackson aka Amanda King

Kate Jackson, previously seen in Charlies Angels and The Rookies, was (IMHO) at the top of her form as Amanda King. Who else could have said such classic lines as “Oh my gosh!” and “Freeze, or I’ll splatter you all over the stage!” with such comedic flare or domesticated grace? Kate’s dedication to the character of Amanda King and the show itself is laudable, both on and behind the screen.

Bruce Boxleitner aka Scarecrow/Lee Stetson

Bruce Boxleitner hangs up his buckskins from “How the West Was Won”, tosses away his Pith Helmet from “Bring ‘Em Back Alive” and dons a tuxedo and a couple of racy sports cars to play Lee Stetson - Spy! While it seems we can take Bruce out of the cowboy role, we can never take the cowboy out of him!

Beverly Garland aka Dotty West

Amanda King isn’t the only one who can roll her eyes, sigh and call this talented actress “Mother!” Beverly Garland has been “Mother” on quite a few tv shows - Lois and Clark, Remington Steele, My Three Sons - just to mention a few. When Beverly isn’t on the stage/screen acting as a mother she’s tending to her own children and grandchildren or the lucky guests in her Hollywood hotel!

Martha Smith aka Francine Desmond

Martha, Martha, Martha… What’s not to love about a character that is perpetually in her 30s, states her height depending on what shoes she has on, and can make a mean sandwich?! While many of her TV/Movie roles have portrayed her as, erm… not the nicest person… the real Martha (and Magda!) is as sweet as Franny’s favorite chocolate dessert. Beaman obviously saw what was carefully hidden!

Mel Stewart aka William Melrose

The sometimes stoic Billy Melrose pales in comparison with the man behind the scenes. Martial Arts, Black Performance Groups, and volunteering with San Francisco Youth were only a few of the activites that Mel enjoyed devoting his time to. Even though he was an accomplished saxophonist, the highlight of his musical career was a voice over in a Charles Mingus piece at Carnegie Hall.

Greg Morton aka Jamie King and Paul Stout aka Philip King

I’ve always wondered how Jamie and Philip would have felt if they knew their mother was a spy. At the end it was hinted that they were upset that their mom was spending more time at work (and with Lee). Despite the dysfunctional 80’s family life on screen, Paul and Greg grew up well as child actors and have many stories to tell about the experience!

Myron Natwick aka Dr. Smyth

Dr Smyth may be the quintessential bad guy, but Myron Natwick is the utmost gentleman. While having dinner with him at the 20th anniversary, our table was treated to the kind and funny side of Dr. Smyth - what a treat! When he’s not tossing out the verbal fruit salad, Myron Natwick can be seen in such shows as The Pretender, Mysterious Ways, Taxi and Hart to Hart.

Joseph Brutsman aka Ephram Beaman

Ah… the original Goat Herder! Who can forget Beaman’s ranting about Amanda or his tireless persual of Francine?! Joseph Brutsman played Beaman so well that they gave him semi-regular appearances. Those memorable appearances have also spawned quite a few fanfiction tales! Joseph Brutsman studied at Julliard and was in the same class as Kevin Spacey. If you’re looking for more Joseph Brutsman sightings - check him out in the movie Once Bitten!
