Three new TV-movies occupy the same Sunday time slot, and even if two were not available for preview I’d recommend Passion Flower. This engrossing romantic melodrama, written by Richard A. Guttman and directed by Joseph Sargent, who seem to be to the Sommerset Maugham-manner born, was filmed in the island republic of Singapore. The story involves us with Nicol Williamson, the most ruthless and the wealthiest man in Southeast Asia; Barbara Hershey, his sultry antagonistic married daughter; Bruce Boxleitner, an expatriate American with ambitions in banking; John Waters, Hershey’s “despicable cad” of a husband; and the “colony” of unscrupulous businessmen and unfaithful wives. Before long, Hershey and Boxleitner are having a steamy affair, Williamson is taking an unexpected interest in the American’s career - and there are twists and trysts and murder in the offing. With an excellent cast and richly atmospheric settings, it’s good exotic fun and deadly games.
