“I’ll wrestle wild tigers, ride elephants, do my own stunts,” declares sex symbol Bruce Boxleitner, “but the hardest thing to do is a kissing scene. You’ve got about 50 people standing around while you do it. Most of the time, it’s very embarrasing.”
34-year-old Bruce, now starring in The Scarecrow And Mrs King, has had an exciting and varied last few years in show business, during which time he both pulled off daredevil stunts, and yes, kissed the heroine. (He ranks with the best in both categories, from our vantage point!)
“I’m having a wonderful time!” exclaimes the Ilinois born actor. “I’m doing what I always wanted to do!” Although it did take some time for Bruce’s career to really find its niche, he feels “fortunate and blessed” that he’s now amassed a firm list of credits behind him, including the mini-series Bare Essence, the film Tron, the made for tv film East of Eden, and the former series Bring ‘Em Back Alive.
Bruce credits one of his favorite actors, Tom Selleck, with paving the way fo the low key, warm, human (and of course handsome) character he himself feels most comfortable portraying. Bruce is happiest in roles featuring decency and realness, along with lots of adventure, too.
Off-camera, Bruce is a happy hubby and devoted dad; his wife Kitty is a former actress who now is directing the life of their three year old son Sam. The Boxleitners live in Hidden Hills, Californina. Much of their leisure time is spent hiking and horseback riding. In a town in which few people are content with their professional lives, Bruce Boxleitner is indeed a particularly lucky man!
