Corageous Kate Jackson is battling back from a tripple blow to an agonizing leg injury so that she can keep working on her hit TV Series Scarecrow and Mrs. King. Her leading man has praised the gutsy actress for ignoring her pain to film scenes in which she is required to ride horses and even do dance routines. Kate’s problems began when she tripped and fell in her Beverly Hills mansion and tore the ligaments in her right ankle. The injured leg was put in plaster and the plucky former Charlie’s Angel carried on filming her show which has shot to the top of the ratings.

But back on the set, actor Paul Shanar flung open a door which Kate was standing behind - giving the leg another painful blow. Then later in the week Kate slipped in the bathtub further damaging the ligaments.

Kate’s co-star, handsome Bruce Boxleitner, is concerned by the actress’s jinx. He said: “Kate ripped all the ligaments in her ankle. Bones heal much faster. It’s not good. Not good at all.”

And Boxleitner confesses to being concerned about the show’s scriptwriters’ lake of foresight in dealing with KAte’s brave attempt to continue filming. “The writers have been very shortsighted,” he said. “Instead of writing the injury into the series, they’ve given her everything to do from ballroom dancing to horseback riding - with ripped ligaments. But she’s a trouper, a real pro. And she’s tried to do it all, so of course there’s been no opportunity for the injury to heal. The situation is a real mess.”

An industry insider added: “This show is very important to Kate. Everything is riding on it. From the time Kate left Charlie’s Angels, the one thing she desperately wanted was a movie career. She was bitterly disapointed that her commitment to that show cost her the role in Kramer Versus Kramer, the same part that one Meryl Streep and Oscar. For a while Kate found it very difficult to adjust to like away from the security of a hit show,” the insider revealed. “Her TV film debut Topper, with her first husband, Andrew Stevens, was not well received. That failure put a terrific strain on their relationship. And the three feature films she made, Thunder and Lightning, Dirty Tricks and Making Love all flopped too.”

“It was a very difficult time for Kate,” the source added. “Her marriage was on the rocks, and she couldn’t seem to get her career off the ground in the way she had hoped for. After being a household name on a hit show for such a long time, the rejection was very hard. And it was important for Kate to prove to the rest of the Angels that she too could make it on her own, away from the show. After so many career and personal dissappointments, at times, it was hard for Kate to believe that she would ever make anything of her life again.”

For a while the brunette beauty even talked of leaving Hollywood for good, said the source. “But she’s too much of a trouper to just quit like that. And sure enough things began turning around for her. She met her current husband David Greenwald, and as soon as she saw the script for Scarecrow, she knew that was the show for her.”

The Hollywood insider said that even though it wasn’t a film, Kate felt it was certain to be a smash hit. “And her instincts we3re absolutely right. The show was an immediate success, just as Kate said it would be,” the insider said. “That’s why, if there’s any way she is able, she’ll be on that set every day, no matter how she feels. This whole thing is just too important to her.”
