“I guess it’s about time I started thinking about taking voice lessons,” said pretty angel, Kate Jackson. “I’ve always wanted to sing but never did anything about it. Now that the opportunities are in front of me, I might as well take advantage of them.”
Since the success of Charlie’s Angels, Kate’s popularity is unreal. She’s one of the hottest personalities in Japan, and Victory Records has offered her a great deal if she will cut an album for them.
“If someone told me a few years ago that I would even be considering a singing career, I would have told them they’re nuts,” she said laughing. “Now I’m thinking about it quite seriously. When I heard from Victory Records, they made everything sound terrific. They even said if I accepted, they would let me pick out my own sonds. Wow, how many established record artists want to do that?”
Jaclyn Smith is a very accomplished ballerina, and Cheryl Ladd is a singer. Now Kate wants to get into the act.
“When we have a break in scene,” Kate said, “Cheryl is always walking around the set singing. I like that. I love music and it makes one feel terrific inside. I’m really getting excited about the fact that I may add a new dimension to my career.”
David Soul, a close friend of Kate’s, has said, “If she is seriously thinking about music, there’s no reason why we can’t do a song or two together for an album.” David, you will remember, started out as the masked singer, and now that he is well known, he’s scoring high on the record charts with his hits.
A close firend of Kate’s said, “As long as Kate is as popular as she is, she should take advantage of it. Let’s face it, if the popularity wasn’t there, she wouldn’t be asked to record. Kate knows this, and if people want to see her or hear her, that’s terrific. She should do it.”
Laughing, Kate said, “Next I’ll heat that they want me to appear in Las Vegas. THat’s one thing I don’t think I’ll be able to do.”
Another thing Kate couldn’t do was pose for nude magazines. “It’s true when you’re in the limelight, you’re asked to do many things, but there are some that are definite no’s - like posing nude. But singing, that’s another story. I really think I’m going to love it.”
The only thing that is standing in Kate’s way right now is the matter of time. With her busy schedule on the series, she really doesn’t have time to breathe. WHen the show stops shooting, Kate is leaving for Tucson, Arizona, to do a movie-of-the-week. That will keep her away from the coast for about month. Then there are other commitments after that.
“I guess it I’m really serious about music, I will just have to make time,” the beauty said. Smiling she added. “It would be fun singing on a date, don’t you think? Either that or I might scare them away.”
While Kate jokes about the idea of a career in singing, those who know her well are saying that sh’e svery determined about it. “One good thin about Kate,” a close friend said. “When she makes her mind up to do something, she does it to perfection. Who knows? She might have the number one song on the charts one year from now.”
